The cephalopod mollusk Loliolus japonica, also known as lolicon japonica, has never been encountered by scientists either in this area or in any other Russian waters.
This small squid lives in the Asian tropical seas of the Pacific Ocean and belongs to the coastal thermophilic species. An interesting fact is his capture at the end of May, when the temperature in the bottom layer is still quite cold, 5.3 degrees. This tropical squid was encountered while working with a bottom trawl at a depth of 30 meters south of Cape Kuznetsov
The length of the squid's mantle was 12 cm, and the weight was 60 grams. The sample was brought ashore for laboratory genetic and morphological analysis.
