At the same time as the research vessel “Vilnyus”, the Norwegian research vessels of the Institute of Marine Research (Bergen) – “Kronprins Haakon” and “Johan Hjort” – will begin work in the Norwegian waters of the Barents Sea, conducting similar research in the western part of the sea.
A large volume of primary hydroacoustic and biological data is planned to be collected over 35 days, which will be used to assess the current state of cod and haddock stocks and forecast their future catch. Traditionally, scientists will collect a set of oceanographic data on the state of sea waters, including their pollution.
