Commercial Invertebrates of Western Siberia in the Focus of Science

Specialists from the laboratory of commercial invertebrates of the Tyumen branch of the State Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) returned from a two-week expedition to the lakes of the Chelyabinsk, Kurgan and Tyumen regions.

They studied the raw material base of Artemia, Artemia at the cyst stage and the state of stocks of cladocerans, copepods and chaoborids.

Comprehensive studies were conducted on 35 lakes, with a total area of 280 km². During the scientific work, samples of zooplankton and zoobenthos were taken, and the parameters of the aquatic environment were taken into account: temperature, transparency, salinity of water, the amount of oxygen dissolved in it. Water was taken for analysis of the main hydrochemical indicators.

The next similar trip to the lakes of the Chelyabinsk, Kurgan and Tyumen regions is planned for August. Such frequency will allow scientists to assess commercial invertebrates at different stages of the life cycle.
