The delivery was made as part of the implementation of the national project “Unmanned Aircraft Systems”. At the end of 2024, the branch employees successfully completed training in the management and maintenance of these UAVs at the training bases of the manufacturers.
In March of this year, employees of the Sakhalin branch of VNIRO for the first time applied the acquired skills in managing the Supercam S350F unmanned aerial vehicle to determine the number of amateur fishermen on Lake. Izmenchivoe, located in the eastern part of the Korsakov Municipal District of the Sakhalin Region.
The flight length was 96 km, the speed was 80 km/h, and the altitude was 300 m.
Almost 3,000 high-quality photographs were obtained, which will allow scientists to count the number of amateur fishermen. The aircraft-type UAV demonstrated high efficiency, allowing for a significant acceleration of the counting of observation objects and an increase in its accuracy.
In April-May, it is planned to extend the successful experience of using aircraft-type UAVs to surveying the spawning grounds of Sakhalin-Hokkaido herring in the south of Sakhalin Island and assessing their area, which is especially important given the increase in its numbers in recent years.
During the spawning migration of Pacific salmon to the rivers of the southeast of Sakhalin Island and Aniva Bay in July-August, the number of producers entering the water bodies will be counted. This information will be used to make decisions on the operational regulation of the fishery.
When surveying large areas and extended hard-to-reach water bodies, a wide range of action and feedback is required. Domestic unmanned aerial vehicles are becoming an indispensable, reliable companion for scientists, allowing to reduce the burden and risks for humans.
