Specialists are heading to the American port of Dutch Harbor in Alaska, where they will be joined by fellow scientists from the United States and Canada to conduct comprehensive studies of Pacific salmon in the Aleutian waters.
As previously reported, the research will cover a significant part of the winter feeding area of salmon, will allow to assess their physiological state during wintering and environmental conditions. The expedition continues a series of filming of the Salmon 2021 program to study these fish at all stages of their life cycle.
This is the third international voyage organized by the North Pacific Anadromous Fish Commission (NPAFC) as part of the International Year of Salmon, previous expeditions were conducted in 2019 and 2020.
