This year, the countries celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. In honor of this significant date, the ASEAN Center at MGIMO organized a scientific conference to summarize the results of bilateral cooperation and discuss new opportunities and prospects for the development of cooperation between the two countries. The report was presented during the session "New areas of cooperation between Russia and Malaysia: innovations, startups, education and the book industry", which considered promising areas of multifaceted Russian-Malaysian partnership and discussed scientific and educational cooperation.
The Malaysian delegation at the conference was headed by the Charge d'affaires of the Embassy of Malaysia in the Russian Federation, Mr. Johan Ariff Bin Abdul Razak. In his speech, Mr. Razak proposed to add new areas of cooperation to the joint agenda. As a result of the event, contact was established with representatives of the diplomatic corps and the scientific community of Malaysia. The parties discussed the possibilities of developing ties between Russian and Malaysian research organizations in the fisheries sector.
In modern conditions, VNIRO seeks to develop cooperation with new partners. One of the promising countries are the ASEAN countries, which include Malaysia.
