Limitation of Pacific salmon fishing in the Far Eastern fishery basin in 2025

On June 16 of this year, the Russian Ministry of Justice registered the order of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture "On the establishment of restrictions on Pacific salmon fishing in the Far Eastern fishery basin in 2025".
 
The regulatory measures presented in the order are aimed at limiting industrial Pacific salmon fishing on the western coast of Kamchatka using fixed seines with a central cable length of the fixed seine, measured from the point of its attachment on the shore to the head buoy towards the sea, of more than 1,500 meters and having more than two traps.
 
In Khabarovsk Krai, a ban was introduced on the use of fixed seines with a central cable length of the fixed seine, measured from the point of its attachment on the shore to the head buoy towards the sea, of more than 1,000 meters in the North Okhomotmorskaya subzone, as well as on the river. Amur (downstream from the city of Nikolaevsk-on-Amur) using fixed seines of the "zaezdok" type with a central wing length of more than 1000 m.
 
The presented regulatory measures were discussed during the spring session of the Far Eastern Basin Scientific and Commercial Council, chaired by the head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries I.V. Shestakov on April 25, 2025 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and are aimed at sustainable and long-term exploitation of the raw material base of Pacific salmon.
