Monitoring studies of hyperhaline lakes of the Altai Territory

From July 22 to August 3, the staff of the Altai branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) continued comprehensive studies in the hyperhaline reservoirs of the Altai Territory.

A total of 32 water bodies were examined as part of the state assignment (20 - as part of monitoring the aquatic biological resources, 12 - as part of reconnaissance studies).

The purpose of the research was to assess the living conditions and sexual maturation of second-generation Artemia, as well as the prospects for further development of the population.

During the expedition, hydrobiological and hydrochemical material was collected, phenological observations were carried out, and fecundity was determined on live Artemia material from 12 reservoirs.

The samples were delivered to the branch laboratories for further office processing and will serve as the basis for developing a forecast for the state of the Artemia population for the coming years.

Compared to June 2024, a slight decrease in the water level was noted, in some reservoirs the water level remained almost at the same level. This situation in almost all hyperhaline lakes affected minor fluctuations in water salinity towards an increase.
