The employees assessed the effectiveness and scale of spawning of these semi-anadromous fish species at spawning and nursery farms in Krasnodar Krai.
The work was carried out on the territory of four spawning and nursery farms of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Glavrybvod": Beysugsky, Vostochno-Akhtarsky, Chernoerkovsky and Yeisk.
Leading specialist of the Aquaculture Center Andrey Suetnikov noted that these reservoirs are of particular importance for the conservation of semi-anadromous fish species, since they are the main place for their spawning. Pike perch and roach that reproduce here form the basis of fish stocks of the entire Azov Sea. Therefore, these farms are the most important link for the conservation and maintenance of the numbers of these species.
During the expedition, data were obtained on the quantitative and qualitative condition of juvenile pike perch and roach at early stages of development. An assessment was made of the fish's provision with food organisms, and information was collected on the state of their habitat. These data will allow scientists not only to assess the current picture of reproduction, but also to develop measures to improve its efficiency.
