Monitoring work on artificial reproduction in the Astrakhan region

Specialists of the Volga-Caspian branch of the State Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) are monitoring the activities of organizations in the Astrakhan Region that carry out artificial reproduction of aquatic bioresources.

In June-July of this year, a grading survey of juvenile sturgeon fish species was carried out, during which an assessment of the fish-breeding, biological and quantitative indicators of juveniles was carried out, and samples of juveniles and zooplankton were taken to determine the intensity of feeding during pond cultivation. Based on the results, an assessment will be made regarding the use of biotechnical indicators for breeding sturgeon fish species, the quality of released juveniles and an examination for the presence of diseases.

As part of the commission of the Volga-Caspian territorial administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries for monitoring activities to implement work on artificial reproduction, specialists of the branch assessed the results of growing young semi-anadromous fish species - bream and carp in areas of Astrakhan spawning and rearing farms. All young fish reached the standard weights, as a result of artificial reproduction activities, natural populations of a number of species of aquatic biological resources will be replenished.
