R/V Professor Boyko has begun a comprehensive survey

Scientists from the Polar Branch and the Central Institute of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) will conduct a comprehensive trawl survey of the Kamchatka crab in the exclusive economic zone of the Barents Sea.
 
During the voyage, research will be carried out to study the characteristics and patterns of the spatial distribution of the Kamchatka crab, aspects of its biology (size and sex composition, maturity, fertility, condition of the integument, diseases and parasite fauna), quantitative indicators of catches will be collected to determine biomass indices, the number of total and commercial stocks, and comprehensive oceanographic and hydrobiological studies will be conducted.
 
The staff will receive data on the catches and biological condition of bottom fish in the areas of work and collect materials to assess pollution of the habitat, biochemical and technological studies.
