Reporting session of the Kamchatka branch of VNIRO

On February 17-18, the Kamchatka branch of the Russian State Research Center of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) held a reporting session on the results of comprehensive studies of biological resources of the Far Eastern seas in accordance with the State Assignment for 2024.
 
This year, the session was held in an updated format - reports were heard from all research staff, who spoke not only about the research being conducted, but also about publication activity, participation in advanced training programs, mentoring programs and work plans.
 
A total of 25 reports were presented: 6 reports prepared by young scientists and specialists and 19 - on the most relevant, significant and innovative results of research work.
 
The topics of the reports were diverse: works on the study of biology, stock assessment and forecasting of catch of commercial objects, use of artificial intelligence and digital technologies, study of diseases of aquatic organisms, background research were discussed. According to the head of the branch Nina Shpigalskaya, the results of the discussions held following the Reporting Session help to develop promising areas of research of biological resources and recommendations for the implementation of scientific potential.
 
Traditionally, the first block of the Reporting Session was devoted to reports on the results of research work by young scientists and specialists. Those present noted that the research of young scientists was carried out and presented at a very high level.
 
The second block of the Reporting Session was devoted to the work of already established scientists. The presented reports also covered a wide range of scientific interests.
