Stocking nursery reservoirs with valuable fish larvae

 

More than 250 million muksun, nelma, broad whitefish and peled larvae were stocked in the fish hatcheries "Lake Aitor" and "Lake Vanzetursky Sor" in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Yugra this season.

 

The transportation of live cargo to the nursery reservoirs was carried out in stages. The first to be stocked was Lake Aitor, where the larvae were delivered by a special live fish vehicle equipped with thermal containers. Such transport is suitable for long journeys and maintains optimal conditions along the way - the necessary temperature and level of oxygen dissolved in the water. The second fish hatchery, Lake Vanzetursky Sor, is located in a hard-to-reach area. The larvae were delivered here by helicopter in several flights in special fish-breeding bags with oxygen-saturated water.

 

The Tyumen branch of VNIRO carries out a full cycle of work on the artificial reproduction of valuable fish. Specialists receive eggs from their own broodstock of whitefish, then send them for long-term incubation to the regional fish hatchery "Tobolsky". In Weiss's devices, the future fish spends an average of six months, and in early spring the larvae hatch. Further cultivation is carried out in adapted floodplain reservoirs until the young reach the optimal weight of one and a half grams. In the summer, the strengthened valuable fish are released into the Ob main river, where they join the natural populations.
