Specialists from the Azov-Black Sea branch of VNIRO determined the species composition of the catches, followed by sampling and collection of biological material. The main focus was on the qualitative characteristics of pike perch and roach producers. Morphometric parameters (length and weight) were measured, samples were taken to determine fecundity, as well as samples to determine the age structure of the population.
Research was also conducted to study the habitat of aquatic bioresources - water temperature, turbidity, mineralization, salinity were measured, the oxygen content in the water and its acidity (pH) were determined. During the monitoring, a low water level was noted in all reservoirs, which can negatively affect the reproductive activity of fish.
The results of the expedition will help to establish the changes that have occurred in the spawning populations of semi-anadromous fish. Based on the data obtained, scientists will develop a preliminary forecast of the recommended volume of catch of aquatic bioresources in the Azov estuaries of the Krasnodar Territory for 2026.
