The projected volume of pink salmon production in Primorsky Krai has been increased

At a meeting of the Biological Section of the Academic Council of the Pacific Branch of the Russian State Research Center “All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography” (VNIRO) in early June, materials were reviewed that substantiate the change in the projected volumes of pink salmon production (catch) in the Primorsky Krai of the Primorye subzone in 2025.

Scientists noted the high intensity of pink salmon entering coastal rivers, as well as an increase in the dynamics of catching this fish.

For the first time in 150 years, Primorsky Krai has taken first place in the volume of Pacific salmon production among the Far Eastern regions. As of 30.06.2025, 5,264 tons of pink salmon and masu salmon were caught, and as of 03.07.2025, the catch of pink salmon alone was already 6,300 tons. For the period 23-30.06.2025, the average catch of pink salmon per day exceeded 300 tons (359 - 583 tons).

Based on the biological justification, it was decided to change the projected pink salmon catch volumes for all types of fishing in 2025, with the exception of fishing for scientific research and control purposes, for educational and cultural purposes, for aquaculture (fish farming), by increasing them in the Primorye subzone by 8 thousand tons (from 13,595.23 tons to 21,595.23 tons), including within the boundaries of Primorsky Krai by 8 thousand tons (from 6,995.23 tons to 14,995.23 tons).

Specialists from the laboratory of biological resources of continental water bodies and fish of estuarine systems of the branch shared the results of the study of marine coastal areas from the Svetlaya River to the Edinka River, the lower parts of the rivers in this area.

In the last ten days of June 2025, numerous accumulations of pink salmon were noted throughout the entire study area and up to 5 km deep in the sea. In the coastal part, concentrations of pink salmon from 500 to 5 thousand specimens were also found, while their numbers increased towards the estuaries of the rivers.
