Greenpeace noted that currently available photos and videos are not enough for the public to be able to fully see the process of release of all 6 Beluga whales in the sea of Okhotsk.
Sharing the common concern and advocating for openness and constructiveness, the parties agreed at the meeting on June 24 to prepare additional video materials from the technical materials available at VNIRO for the production of marine mammals.
To assess the content of technical videos, Greenpeace invited Viktor Nikiforov, an independent expert — coordinator of environmental projects at the marine mammals research and expedition center: "Based on the totality of the presented video materials, it can be concluded that six Beluga whales were released into the sea — five individuals from the shore and one from the catamaran." The expert also made recommendations regarding the subsequent processing of the video information, including time codes, and also rules of carrying out such photography.
