From July 21 to August 5, the Regional Public Organization (RPO) "Summer School" is holding an offline program of the Biological Department (BiO) in the Tver Region on the territory of the Volga base, which belongs to the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR).
The Summer School is held with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund. The BiO program is addressed to high school students, students, young scientists, and consists of a theoretical block, including lectures and seminars, as well as a practical block, which includes discussions, workshops and meetings with specialists in various fields of biology. The Bio program is aimed at introducing young biologists to biology as a holistic system of knowledge, replenishing knowledge in areas that are given little attention in a regular biology course, career guidance in biological science, and integrating participants into the scientific community.
Every year, the Biology Department invites teachers from leading universities and employees of advanced laboratories (Lomonosov Moscow State University, Samara State Medical University, Moscow State Pedagogical University, Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Skoltech, University of Cambridge, Technische Universiteit Delft) as lecturers, who are ready to share their knowledge and experience.
This year, VNIRO researchers were invited to give lectures.
In general, Ekaterina Seromakha spoke about VNIRO as the leading scientific organization of the country's fisheries complex in her presentation, as well as young scientists who presented individual areas: Kirill Kivva "Interesting about the World Ocean", Pavel Emelin "Marine expeditions of VNIRO", Valeria Soshnina "Bony fish. Systematic battles of morphology and genetics", Ivan Belokobylsky "Modern technologies for studying Arctic marine mammals".
Lectures by VNIRO scientists aroused keen interest among listeners and a lot of questions for each of the speakers.
