In February 1943, the Red Army won the Battle of Stalingrad and seized the initiative in the Great Patriotic War.

The battle, which became one of the largest in the entire war, lasted 200 days. During this operation, our troops destroyed about one and a half million Nazis. The victory forced the Third Reich's allies to abandon their invasion of the Soviet Union and begin peace negotiations.
