Working visit of the Director of VNIRO to China

 

A Cooperation Agreement was signed following the meeting. One of the important topics of discussion was the development of innovative technologies for open-sea marine farming, which is a new era in the development of marine aquaculture.

 

During the visit, the delegation got acquainted with the activities of the National Center for Ocean Engineering Mariculture, laboratories, a library, a museum of marine biology, a fisheries research institute, and an innovative center for deep processing of fish products. Fruitful discussions on current topics of scientific and technical cooperation took place between Russian and Chinese scientists. Representatives of the St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University also took part in the meeting.

 

Also, on June 16, the Russian delegation visited the Tropical Ocean University, located in the city of Sanya in the Chinese province of Hainan. The parties exchanged views on the development of scientific and technical cooperation in the field of assessing reserves and preserving aquatic bioresources and in the field of aquaculture. At the same time, mutual interest was expressed in developing contacts between young scientists.
