34th session of the Joint Russian-Chinese Commission

As part of the 34th session of the Joint Russian-Chinese Commission on Fisheries, a discussion was held on scientific and technical cooperation between the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) and the Heilongjiang Research Institute of Fisheries of the Chinese Academy of Fisheries Sciences.
 
Alexey Gaidukov, Head of the Russian-Chinese Center for Scientific and Technical Cooperation at VNIRO, Denis Kotsyuk, head of the Khabarovsk branch, Denis Kiku, Deputy Head of the Pacific Branch, and Li Shouwu, Deputy Director of the Heilongjiang Research Institute of River Fisheries, summed up the work in 2025 and discussed areas of cooperation in 2026.
 
In 2025, a representative delegation of Chinese researchers took part in the III International Scientific and Practical Conference and the V School of Young Scientists and Specialists of VNIRO "Fisheries Science in the 21st century: key areas of development". Chinese scientists presented reports on the current state and prospects for the development of fisheries in the People's Republic of China. A collection of reports in Russian and Chinese has been published following the conference.
 
The 200th anniversary Russian-Chinese issue of the scientific journal "Proceedings of VNIRO" was presented as part of the VIII International Fisheries Forum and Exhibition of the Fishing Industry. Articles by Chinese scientists devoted to topical issues of the development of fisheries and aquaculture have been published on the pages of the journal. The event was attended by Duan Delin, Professor at the Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
 
In September 2025, the VNIRO delegation participated in an international seminar for the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on "Aquaculture development and climate change" in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province.
 
The parties discussed these and other events held in 2025 and agreed to continue scientific cooperation in the field of fisheries at the achieved high level in 2026.
