Representatives of 13 contracting parties participated in the session, including the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), as well as observers from various non-governmental and environmental organizations.
Following the session, TACs were agreed upon for cod on the Flemish Cap Bank (microdistrict 3M), Greenland halibut, rockfish in microdistricts 3LN and 3O, starry skate, white burbot, and other stocks. A decision was made to extend the moratorium on capelin and cod fishing in microdistricts 3NO, as well as shrimp in microdistrict 3LNO.
The parties agreed on measures to regulate various stocks. During the session, a new President and Vice President of the Commission were elected. NAFO Executive Secretary Brynhildur Benediktsdottir was re-elected for a new four-year term.
