Anniversary of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of VNIRO

 

Representatives of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, the Central Institute, the St. Petersburg, Middle Volga, Tatar, Saratov branches of VNIRO, representatives of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and industry organizations took part in such a significant event for the branch.

 

"The main scientific activity is aimed at studying and preserving biodiversity, including the preparation of recommendations for industrial and amateur fishing, ensuring the rational development and reproduction of aquatic bioresources. I am sure that there are still many interesting and important scientific projects ahead!", - noted the head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries Ilya Shestakov in his congratulations to the institute's staff on its 50th anniversary.

 

Also, there were welcoming words from the Deputy Director of VNIRO Pavel Bagimov, congratulations from the Senator of the Russian Federation representing the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Alexander Weinberg, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries Andrey Yakovlev, Chairman of the Committee of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region on Ecology and Natural Resources Vladislav Atmakhov, Deputy Prosecutor of the Nizhny Novgorod Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor's Office Alexey Mikhailov and Deputy Minister of Forestry and Wildlife Protection of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Andrey Khrulyov.

 

Many warm words and wishes were said to the branch, which has come a long way from the laboratory created half a century ago to a modern research center that ensures the development of fisheries in eight subordinate regions.

 

In turn, those gathered listened with interest to the illustrated story about the history, present and future, what the branch is living with at present and the development prospects.

 

The gala event ended with a ceremony of awarding specialists with industry awards for impeccable professional work and achievements in the field of fisheries science.
