Scientists examined about 45 thousand hectares of water areas, collecting hydrobiological and ichthyological samples, as well as analyzing the hydrological and hydrochemical regime of reservoirs — this approach helps to track the dynamics of the state of water areas in comparison with previous years.
During the control catches, the researchers studied about 800 individuals of different ages, determining their species affiliation and recording size and mass indicators. According to the expedition leader Gennady Karnaukhov, roach, silver crucian and bream still dominate in the structure of the fishing reserve, and in the Krasnodar reservoir — chehon.
Studies have confirmed the positive impact of the hydrological regime of 2026 on the natural reproduction of phytophilic fish species. The number of juvenile walleye has increased especially noticeably: on average — almost 1.5 times compared to 2025, and in the Varnavinsky reservoir — almost 2.5 times.
The feed base of the reservoirs remains at a satisfactory level and is capable of providing an increase in ichthyomass by at least 1.5 thousand tons during the growing season. In addition, scientists have recorded two rare species of green algae in the phytoplankton — Desmodesmus denticulatus and Treubaria triappendiculata, which have not been observed for more than 10 years, indicating dynamic changes in the ecosystem of the region.
