Assignment of the VNIRO research station name "Mikhail Krykhtin"

On September 23, a ceremony to name the research vessel "Mikhail Krykhtin" took place at the Zaimka River Terminal in Khabarovsk.

Mikhail Lukich Krykhtin was a prominent Far Eastern scientist, one of the students and followers of G.V. Nikolsky's scientific school. He was a veteran of the Great Patriotic War. He was awarded the Medal "For Courage," the Medal "For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945," and the Order of the Red Star.

During his years at the Amur Branch, he researched Far Eastern salmon, the most important species in the Aiur River basin fisheries. He actively participated in numerous conferences and meetings on ichthyology and fisheries, and popularized knowledge of aquatic biology. M.L. Krykhtin was a remarkably goal-oriented and dedicated scientist, highly demanding of himself and his colleagues, yet he remained a humble and selfless man, a good colleague, and friend. During his 44 years of work at the Amur branch of TINRO, he authored over 180 scientific papers, many of which are of great scientific and applied significance.

Mikhail Lukich, who devoted his energies to his beloved field of ichthyology, will forever remain in the memory of his friends, branch staff, and Amur fisheries workers as a scientist, leader, and remarkable person. Recognizing the achievements of Mikhail Lukich Krykhtin, staff of the Khabarovsk branch of VNIRO initiated a proposal to VNIRO management to name one of the research vessels conducting scientific research on the Amur River "Mikhail Krykhtin."

The research vessel Mikhail Krykhtin is designed to monitor Pacific salmon, sturgeon, and freshwater fish stocks in the Amur River basin, including using the NetKor-3 hydroacoustic system.

This will provide new information on the status of salmon, sturgeon, and freshwater fish stocks and the development of their fisheries.

The research team stationed onboard will be able to conduct primary laboratory research immediately after receiving the observation results.
