Bonification of repair and breeding stocks at Ural fish factories

At the Zelenoborsky and Kiryushkinsky fish factories, as well as at Novaya Gildia LLC, the repair and breeding stocks (RMS) were bonitized under the supervision of specialists from the Ural branch of the SSC RF "All‑Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) and fish protection authorities.

The comprehensive assessment included checking the weight, appearance, physiological condition of the fish, the absence of injuries and diseases, as well as determining the stage of maturity of the gonads — this allowed us to predict the timing of spawning and the potential yield of eggs.

At the Zelenoborsky fish factory, where carp are traditionally grown, this season for the first time they received young sterlets — all fish are intended for compensatory measures. The Kiryushkinskoye fish breeding farm, specializing in valuable species, contains Siberian sturgeon, sterlet, muksun and nelma in the RMS — these species are important for the restoration of natural populations. Novaya Gildia LLC is focused on commercial species for the domestic market: carp, trout and other species suitable for local growing conditions are represented in the herd.

The participation of the branch's experts ensured the scientific validity of the assessment, and the control of fish protection ensured transparency and compliance with legislation. As a result of the bonus training, relevant breeding groups were formed, priority breeding areas were identified, and recommendations were made to improve the conditions of the RMS. The data obtained will form the basis for planning spawning campaigns and calculating the release of juveniles in the coming seasons, supporting the sustainable development of the region's aquaculture.
