During the research, 15 fish species belonging to seven families were identified in the river. Scientists conducted mass measurements and biological analysis of the caught specimens, collected ichthyological material for subsequent genetic and ichthyopathological analysis, as well as for the determination of heavy metals and petroleum products in the fish. Using the data obtained after office processing, specialists will compile the size, age, and sex structure of the fish stocks, analyze the species composition, and calculate the abundance and biomass of the ichthyofauna. The final information will be reflected in the materials substantiating the TAC and RV.
In addition, fisheries scientists will assess the river's condition. To determine the composition and condition of the food supply and key water parameters, they collected hydrobiological and hydrochemical samples at several stations. These studies will be conducted in the branch's laboratories.
The Yuribey River is one of the most fish-rich rivers in the western Yamal Peninsula. It is used by fish throughout its entire length for spawning, feeding, and wintering. It is home to Siberian vendace, whitefish, broad whitefish, Arctic omul, peled, Siberian grayling, and navaga. The richness of the river's species composition is due to its high water content, the abundance of large lakes, and the comfortable conditions in the shallows.
