The work covered the entire water area of the reservoir: scientists selected hydrobiological and hydrochemical samples to assess the state of the aquatic environment, including the level of dissolved oxygen, the concentration of nutrients, and other key indicators important for understanding the overall environmental background. At the same time, scientific fishing was conducted. It provided an opportunity not only to obtain data on the species composition and population size, but also to collect material for a detailed assessment of the fish population.
Due to the prevailing heat, large fish moved to deeper and cooler areas of the reservoir, so roach and perch dominated the catches. The caught specimens were subjected to a complete biological analysis: experts measured the length and weight of the individuals, determined the age by scales or otoliths, assessed the degree of maturity of the gonads, and analyzed the fatness and general physiological condition of the fish. Such a data set allows not only to record the current state of populations, but also to identify possible deviations related to environmental conditions.
The results of the conducted research will become the basis for calculating the recommended catch (RV) and will help to form scientifically sound proposals for the management of fish stocks in the reservoir. In addition, the accumulated data will allow us to track the dynamics and growth rates of the fish population, assess the resilience of populations to changing conditions and predict possible changes in the structure of the ichthyofauna in the coming years.
