Environmental projects in the Astrakhan region

In early October, specialists from the Volga‑Caspian branch of the SSC RF "All‑Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) actively participated in environmental education projects for the youth of the Astrakhan region.

The long-term cooperation of the branch with the Blue Patrol teams helps schoolchildren and teachers to protect reservoirs and fish resources: children receive advice and support, as well as participate in actions to save juvenile fish.

The "Save the Fish" project became a highlight: students of the Kilinchinsky school of the Privolzhsky district, together with the chief specialist of the laboratory for stock assessment and reproduction of river and semi-navigational fish, Eduard Nikitin, released 10,000 carp fry into the Volga. Thanks to the specialized equipment from the scientific and experimental complex of aquaculture "BIOS", the release was carried out as carefully and safely as possible for fish.

The educational work also included future professionals. Galina Makarova, Head of the Scientific and Technical Information Department, conducted a tour of the branch for journalism students of Astrakhan State University. And the chief specialist of the laboratory of Hydrobiology, representative of the Council of Young Scientists Elena Minakova, together with the staff of the NEK BIOS, organized a career guidance tour for schoolchildren of the village of Ozernoye as part of the "Pass to the Profession" campaign.

This way, the students were able to get to know the modern enterprises of the region and the professions in demand in the industry.
