Exploration of the Novosibirsk Reservoir and the Ob River

Specialists from the Novosibirsk branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) conducted final fieldwork to assess the status of aquatic biological resources and their habitats in the Novosibirsk Reservoir and the Ob River within the Novosibirsk Region.

To assess fish abundance and distribution during the ice-covered period, research fishing with set nets was conducted. During the work, the species, quantity, and size composition of the research catches were analyzed, and size and weight measurements of all fish species were taken.

To assess the extent of aquatic biological resource removal by recreational fishermen in the Novosibirsk Reservoir, the Ob River, and its tributaries, recreational fishing was monitored. The number of fishermen, the species, quantity, and size composition of their catches, and the number and type of fishing gear used were determined.

The results of the studies will be used to assess the current state of stocks and develop the TAC and RV of aquatic bioresources for 2027.
