Fish farmers were given instructions on how to label fish

A meeting was held at the BIOS Aquaculture Research and Experimental Complex of the Volga-Caspian Branch of the Russian State Research Center of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) between fish farmers from the BIOS Scientific and Experimental Complex, the Caspian Branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Glavrybvod, and private fish farms, and the Ikryaninsky District Veterinary Station regarding animal marking and accounting in accordance with Order No. 832 of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture dated November 3, 2023, "On Approval of Veterinary Rules for Animal Marking and Accounting."

According to this document, all breeding fish and broodstock fish must be marked by March 2026.

The meeting was productive – representatives from the veterinary station explained the entire marking process in detail, from application to re-marking, and answered all questions that arose during the discussion.

For reference:

According to updates to the Law "On Veterinary Medicine" in 2023, the Russian government amended the list of animals subject to individual or group labeling. Previously, it was assumed that fish and other aquaculture species would be subject to group labeling, but it has now become clear that breeding sturgeon require individual labeling. This decision stems from the need for more careful monitoring of the reproduction and conservation of these endangered fish species.
