Fishing for science in Saratov

The Saratov branch of the Scientific Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) held the first stage of the Amateur Fishing Championship "Fishing for science".

17 specialists of the branch participated in the competition, including both experienced anglers and beginners who tried their hand at fishing with a fishing rod for the first time.

Fishing was conducted from the shore using one float rod with one hook. Despite the weather conditions (strong wind) and extremely weak fish biting, the staff showed maximum efforts and skill in catching the coveted catch. Catching at least one large specimen of fish promised victory in the competition. Each participant stared intently at the sacred movement of the float.

Luck smiled on the chief accountant Menzhega I.V., the capture of a roach weighing 50 grams brought the first place in the competition. The second place was taken by the deputy head of the branch Belyanin I.A., losing 5 grams to the winner, the third place was taken by the leading researcher Zotova E.A. with a catch of bleak in 10 grams.

Despite the difficulties in catching fish, all participants received a boost of cheerfulness, positivity and good mood.
