Ichthyological studies on lakes in the Novosibirsk region have been completed

Specialists from the Novosibirsk branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) conducted the final expedition to Lake Chany, the largest lake in the West Siberian fisheries basin. This expedition included observations of the trawl fishery and the Krasny Moryak Fishing Kolkhoz fishing plant located on Lake Sartlan.

These lakes are known to be among the richest in aquatic bioresources in the region, making research into their fish stocks crucial for biodiversity conservation and sustainable fisheries.

During the expedition, specialists provided scientific support for the trawl fishery, performed biological analysis of over a hundred fish, and conducted mass measurements of over a thousand individuals to determine the size and age structure of the local ichthyofauna stocks in Lakes Chany and Sartlan. During the research, it was noted that carp and crucian carp were the main species caught by trawlers during this period of the year.

In addition, specialists conducted studies of abiotic environmental factors, such as water temperature and dissolved oxygen levels, as well as census of recreational fishermen and assessed the species and quantitative composition of their catches. The observation results will be used to determine the impact of the total annual catch by recreational fishermen on aquatic bioresources.

After office processing of the collected material, specialists will determine the structure of the ichthyofauna, its species composition, and calculate the abundance and biomass of aquatic bioresources, which will subsequently allow for the development of recommendations for the rational use of aquatic bioresources in these lakes.
