Pavel Bagimov, Deputy Director of VNIRO, told about the history of the project and the work on the publication, and the illustrator - about the visual concept of the book, the material embodiment of images and the technical nuances of creating illustrations.
The guests of the event were able to see the original work, which became the cover of the publication, and learn how a scientific and artistic book is born "from the inside".
The lecture consisted of two parts. The first is Perseus. The story in person included information about: the birth of Russian fisheries science, the construction of the Perseus: from the St. John's Wort schooner to the flagship of Soviet science, star expeditions under the star flag, heroes of science — the pride of the Motherland and the Perseus campaign into immortality.
The second is Perseus. The story in the lines was presented with data about: Perseus chooses me: How the immersion in the topic began and how a professional order turned into a personal creative mission, the creative kitchen and the illustrator's diary, as well as the cover story: How the painting "The Last Flight" was born — the path from the first line to the central image of the book.
The lecture was accompanied by archival photographs, a demonstration of the book "Unfinished Voyage: 100 Years of Perseus", a visual demonstration of the model of the Perseus research vessel and the original cover painting "The Last Voyage".
