Evgeny Metelev, Head of the Magadan branch, took part in the work of the Council on behalf of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO).
Representatives of the Magadan Regional Public Association of Indigenous Minorities and Ethnic Groups of the North (MOOAKMNiEGS) positively assessed the participation of the Magadan branch in the organization of Salmon Putin 2025, and also thanked the head of the branch for the prompt consideration of issues related to the CIS.
Following the meeting of the Council, the Chairman of the MOACMNIEGS wished fruitful work this year on cooperation, information exchange and coordination of activities in the field of traditional fishing of the CMNS.
On April 30, 2026, a new national holiday is celebrated in Russia for the first time – the Day of the Indigenous Small Peoples of the Russian Federation. Since the territory of the region is the ancestral place of life of the Evens, Koryaks, Chukchi, Itelmen, Yukaghirs, as well as representatives of other indigenous peoples who have mastered the expanses of the North, preserving the unique culture, crafts and age-old wisdom of living in harmony with nature, the institution of this holiday is of particular importance.
