Meeting on the development of the veterinary pharmaceutical industry

On March 13, Natalia Romanova, Head of the laboratory of the Freshwater Fisheries Branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), took part in a meeting of the Subcommittee on the Development of the Veterinary Pharmaceutical industry "Veterinary Drugs for the development of Aquaculture" (expert session of the Delovaya Rossiya project "Veterinary Biopharmaceuticals of Russia: past, Present, future").
 
Natalia Nikolaevna made a presentation on "The structure of veterinary risks in aquaculture enterprises." The presentation is devoted to economically relevant fish diseases in the industry, problems with therapy, and a catastrophic shortage of medicines, in particular antibacterial agents and vaccines. The question was raised about the use of organic dyes (malachite green and purple "K"), which are currently banned, but there is no alternative substitute for them. Representatives of fisheries enterprises supported the need to expand the range of medicines for aquaculture.
 
Representatives of the Association "All-Russian Branch Association of Employers in the field of aquaculture (fish farming)" spoke at the meeting. State Cooperative Association of Fisheries (Rosrybkhoz), NVC Agrovetzashita LLC, VNIIZH Federal State Budgetary Institution, Rosselkhoznadzor JSC and others.
 
The agenda included questions about veterinary issues at aquaculture enterprises. The information obtained will be used in the implementation of the state task: "Creation of a health protection system for aquaculture facilities based on an assessment of the risks of disease spread, development and testing of means for their diagnosis, prevention and treatment."
