Monitoring studies in water bodies of the Altai Territory

From September 2 to 11 of this year, specialists from the Altai branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) conducted research to assess the status of aquatic invertebrates in the autumn of 2025 in brackish-water bodies of Altai Krai.

During the field trip, hydrobiological and hydrochemical samples were collected (zooplankton, zoobenthos, phytoplankton, and natural water for hydrochemical analysis).

The habitat of aquatic bioresources was measured using the following parameters: transparency, depth, salinity, temperature, hydrogen ion (pH), and dissolved oxygen.

Gammarids were visually observed in samples from eight bodies of water, representing individuals of various ages. Chironomids were observed in almost all bodies of water. Chaoborids were observed in five lakes. Cladocera and copepods were found in the zooplankton structure of all lakes.

The collected material was delivered to the branch laboratories for further office processing. The data obtained will be used to assess aquatic invertebrate stocks and predict their recommended catch.
