Participation of VNIRO specialists in the discussion of problems in the Primorye fishing industry

At the end of February, Alexey Baytalyuk, Deputy Director and Head of the Pacific Branch of the Russian State Research Center "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO), participated in a meeting between Primorsky Krai Senators Alexander Rolik and Lyudmila Talabaeva, Deputy Chairman of the Primorsky Krai Government Kirill Khizhinsky, government officials, and the heads of leading fisheries and processing companies in Primorsky Krai.

The main goal of the meeting was to discuss current issues in the Primorsky Krai fisheries industry and identify optimal solutions.

The participants exchanged views on issues such as maintaining the preferential fee for the use of aquatic bioresources for city- and town-forming fisheries organizations indefinitely, the inadvisability of introducing export duties on fish products, and the introduction of additional technical controls on fishing vessels.

It is known that all the issues related to the fishing industry raised at the meeting, as well as the proposals made, will be forwarded to the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management and will be used in preparation for an expanded meeting in the Federation Council with the participation of relevant ministries and agencies, as well as regional representatives. An appeal to the Government of the Russian Federation has been prepared.
