The event was attended by Kirill Kolonchin, Doctor of Economics and Director of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), VNIRO scientists, representatives of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, the region's business community, and regional executive and legislative authorities.

"We have informed fishing companies about projected Pacific salmon catch volumes. Pacific salmon catches in Kamchatka in 2026 are expected to range from 102,000 to 120,000 tons," the director of VNIRO told the event participants.
Industry research continues preparations for the 2026 salmon run. Catch forecasts and related fisheries regulation measures will be presented at the spring meeting of the Far Eastern Basin Scientific and Industrial Council.
Reference:
Kamchatka Krai is the leading Pacific salmon catcher among the Far Eastern regions. This is due to Kamchatka being the center of their habitat, and the peninsula's waters are home to valuable salmon species such as sockeye, Chinook, and coho salmon.
