On February 4-5, the annual Reporting Session was held at the Kamchatka branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO).

Chaired by branch director Nina Shpigalskaya, the team heard and discussed five reports on the results of research conducted by young scientists and specialists in 2025 and 11 reports on the most significant and innovative research of the past year.

As usual, the session participants demonstrated keen scientific interest; the speakers answered numerous pressing questions and discussed proposals for the future organization of scientific work. Colleagues from the Kamchatka branch of the Pacific Institute of Geography, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Northeastern branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Glavrybvod" participated in the event.

Participants at the event particularly praised the work of the young team from the Molecular Genetics Laboratory, whose results were presented in the report "Identification of the Regional Composition of Mixed Aggregations of Asian Chum Salmon Stocks During Pre-Spawning Migrations in the Northwest Pacific Ocean in 2023-2024," as well as the work of a team of specialists from several departments jointly developing the most relevant and promising research approach related to the use of unmanned aerial vehicles.

The report "Improving Methods for Aerial Surveys of Pacific Salmon and Marine Mammals in Kamchatka Krai Water Bodies Using Unmanned Aerial Systems" received the highest rating.
