The work was carried out within the framework of the State Task and covered several areas at once: the collection of hydrobiological and ichthyological material, as well as the study of hydrological and hydrochemical characteristics of the aquatic environment.
At key monitoring stations, scientists studied the features of the reservoir in detail: they determined the nature of bottom sediments, recorded the depth and temperature of the water, assessed the dissolved oxygen content, pH level, mineralization and transparency. To analyze the fish's food supply, the experts took samples of phytoplankton, zooplankton and zoobenthos. In addition, data on the size, weight, and age structure of populations of the main commercial fish species were collected using network measurements.
Now all the collected field material is undergoing laboratory processing. In the future, the results obtained will help to objectively assess the state of commercial fish stocks in the reservoirs of the Vologda region and will become the basis for important environmental and economic decisions.
