Research on the Kama, Votkinsk, Pavlovsky reservoirs and the Belaya River

Specialists of the Perm branch of the Scientific Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) carry out monitoring observations of the spawning process at the main water bodies of the Perm Territory and the Republic of Bashkortostan.

In parallel with the collection of fish data, the factors affecting spawning are assessed: weather conditions, changes in temperature and water level, filling of reservoirs and the timeliness of flooding of spawning grounds.

Fixed nets with meshes from 10 to 100 mm are used for fishing, in a number of water bodies floating nets and seine nets are used.

During the research, the catches were dominated by bream, walleye, chub, roach, grouper, perch, bluefin, silver carp, chub, podust.

The warm last decade of March and the first decade of April led to early ice release and the onset of flooding on many of the rivers and lakes studied, but the subsequent cooling slowed the flood process and, consequently, the onset of fish spawning. Stable warm weather and favorable reproductive conditions occurred only in late April and early May.
