In 2026, the focus turned to key areas: theory and methodology of spatial economics, regional development strategies, as well as economic and mathematical modeling of interregional relations. The conference not only continued the traditions of the A. G. Granberg scientific school, but also became a platform for applied solutions linking the economy and the industry specifics of the territories.
A striking example of this connection was the report by Sergey Rusyaev, a leading researcher at the Magadan branch of the All‑Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), on the topic "Criteria assessment of the location of a fish farming enterprise in the north-east of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)."
The work takes into account natural and social factors: data on spawning grounds and juvenile whitefish in the Kolyma basin, the needs of the local population for fish, socio‑economic indicators of the three uluses, as well as the potential to reduce energy costs. The author proposed a variant of interregional cooperation between the Republic of Sakha and the Magadan region — this approach can strengthen the production and economic stability of the future enterprise.
