Results of the study of the state of aquatic bioresources of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 2025

The Middle Volga branch of the Russian State Research Center "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) conducted observations and collected scientific data throughout the Tsimlyansk Reservoir using the research vessel "Vasily Vasiliev."

A total of 10 cruises were conducted during the monitoring surveys, with 52 vessel-day operations and 124 control and survey trawls performed.

Count trawl surveys, along with ongoing work to assess juvenile fish yields in natural spawning grounds and habitat monitoring for hydrobiological and hydrochemical parameters, are among the most important types of fieldwork conducted by the Middle Volga branch.

Monitoring studies such as control and survey trawling, sampling of food resources, and hydrochemistry of water and bottom sediments have been conducted at traditional sites since the construction of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 1952. The research data is used to calculate population estimates for key commercial fish species.

The collected data is essential for understanding the state of the reservoir's ecosystem and will be used to develop indicators for predicting changes in the abundance and status of commercial fish stocks in the Tsimlyansk Reservoir. The obtained data on the distribution and abundance of key fish species will not only help identify changes occurring under the influence of various anthropogenic factors but also contribute to the sustainable management of fish stocks.
