Evgeny Yakush, First Deputy Head of VNIRO's Pacific Branch, and Boris Shumsky, General Director of VNIIOCEANGEOLOGY, discussed promising areas of cooperation, including geoecological research and assessment of the background state of the geological environment in the coastal shelf zones of the Okhotsk and Japan Seas. The joint work will cover the northwestern Pacific Ocean, the shelf of the Far Eastern seas and the Arctic.
During the visit, Boris Shumsky got acquainted with the history of the branch — institute, which has been contributing to the development of fisheries, ensuring the country's food security and the rational use of biological resources for more than 100 years.
The guest left warm words in the memorial book of the Institute: "It was with great pleasure that I got acquainted with the museum and the history of the Institute, which has been providing the economic sovereignty of the USSR—Russia with a variety of ocean biological resources for more than 100 years.
