Structural transformation of the economy of the Arctic regions

On November 12-13, the 3rd International Scientific and Practical Conference "Structural Transformation of the Arctic Regions' Economies" was held in St. Petersburg at the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "Institute of Regional Economic Problems" of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
 
The conference was opened by Alexey Dmitrievich Shmatko, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Director of the Institute of Regional Economic Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Vladimir Valentinovich Okrepilov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Scientific Director of the Institute of Regional Economic Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, welcomed the participants.
 
The conference addressed the socioeconomic development of the Russian Arctic zone in the context of structural transformation, human resources and infrastructure support for the Arctic regions' economies, and the contribution of young scientists to the spatial development of Arctic territories. A roundtable discussion was also held on the topic "Prospects for Spatial Development of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation: Challenges and Priorities."
 
The conference featured specialists from the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO). Vadim Petrovich Cherdantsev, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Academician of the Moscow Astronomical Oblast, and Advisor to the Director of the Center for Economic Research of Fisheries, presented a paper titled "The Role of the Fisheries Complex in the Economic Development of Russia's Arctic Regions." Roman Igorevich Ushakov, a researcher at VNIRO's Freshwater Fisheries Branch, presented a paper titled "Scientific and Personnel Support for Technological Modernization of the Fisheries Complex in the Russian Arctic Zone Based on Scientific and Educational Clusters and University Campuses."
 
Conference papers will be published in the scientific journal "Economy of the Northwest: Problems and Development Prospects" (White List, Russian Science Citation Index, Higher Attestation Commission, Quartile 2).
