The environmental threat and ways to overcome it were discussed at the forum in Perm

The First Forum of Subsurface users of the Volga Federal District was held in Perm. Alla Melnikova, Head of the Perm branch of the All—Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), and Nikolay Kutsenko, Deputy Head of the Srednevolzhsky branch, participated in it. Representatives of government, science and enterprises are among the more than 500 participants.

The key topic was the environmental situation in the Kizel coal basin (Kizel Basin). Due to the overflow of mine waters, the rivers and lakes of the region were heavily polluted: the maximum permissible concentration was exceeded, for example, for iron up to 1147 maximum permissible concentration, aluminum up to 100 maximum permissible concentration.

Alla Gennadievna presented a research program: within its framework, it is planned to establish new regional water quality standards for the tributaries of the Kama (Yayva, Kosva, Chusovaya). A research methodology has already been developed and sampling points have been identified.

The forum also discussed the improvement of legislation in the mineral resources industry and the balance between the development of mining and the conservation of the region's biodiversity.
