The library of the St. Petersburg branch of VNIRO hosted an exhibition of publications of branch scientific literature

A thematic exhibition of book products from VNIRO Publishing House was held in the library of the St. Petersburg branch of the Scientific Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO).

The event aroused interest among the scientific staff and specialists of the branch. The exposition featured both fundamental works that determine the vector of development of branch science, as well as current methodological developments of regional and international importance.

The central place at the exhibition was occupied by the monograph of Kirill Kolonchin, Director of VNIRO, Doctor of Economics: "Priority areas for the development of the fisheries complex." This work is a key strategic document reflecting the current challenges and prospects of domestic fisheries and aquaculture. The participants of the exhibition noted the high importance of the publication for understanding the long-term goals facing fisheries science.

The work of scientists from the St. Petersburg branch of VNIRO received special attention from visitors.: "Technical guidelines for obtaining juvenile whitefish for model industrial nurseries with a capacity of 1 million specimens. per year", prepared by the staff of the branch, Candidates of Biological Sciences V.V. Kostyanichev and A.K. Shumilina. This guide summarizes the long-term experience of the specialists of the St. Petersburg branch of VNIRO in the field of aquaculture of valuable fish species and is a reference book for the design and operation of fish hatcheries in the North-West of Russia.

During the exhibition, the book "The History of fish farming in the Pskov region (XIX-XX centuries)" was also presented, one of the co-authors of which was the head of the supervised Pskov branch of VNIRO. This historical review connects the past with the current challenges of restoring populations of valuable commercial species in the Pskov region.

The exhibition was not limited to these publications. The staff of the branch got acquainted with other important works presented by VNIRO Publishing House with great interest. Among them were works covering a wide range of fisheries issues: P.A. Moiseev's classic work "Biological Resources of the World Ocean", a case study "Commercial and potentially commercial fish of the underwater ridges of the temperate zone of the Indian Ocean". The methodological manual "Methodology for estimating stocks of uncultivated aquatic biological resources in physical and monetary terms" and the scientific monograph "Stock dynamics and regulation of crab fishing in the seas of Russia" were not ignored.

The exhibition demonstrated the high level of VNIRO's publishing activities and contributed to a professional discussion of current scientific issues among the branch staff. Everyone had the opportunity to work in more detail with the presented publications in the library's reading room.
