The stocking season for natural reservoirs in the Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions has ended

Specialists from the Ural branch of the Russian State Research Center "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) have repeatedly served on commissions of the Lower Ob Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries to monitor the release of aquatic biological resources.

Restocking, as a compensatory measure to compensate for damage to aquatic biological resources caused by economic activities, helps minimize the negative human impact on nature and maintain biodiversity. The type and quantity of fish released are calculated according to special standards that take into account the environmental conditions, physical and chemical parameters of water bodies, the state of the food supply, the characteristics of existing ichthyofauna, and the degree of anthropogenic impact.

Water bodies designated for stocking are called "reception tanks" and are entered into a special register.

The branch's area of responsibility includes 45 reception tanks, 41 of which are lakes and reservoirs, and 4 are rivers.

Priority species for stocking in the region include pike, pike-perch, nelma, Siberian grayling, taimen, sterlet, sturgeon, and others. Also included are carp, grass carp, silver carp, and bighead carp, which, among other things, are excellent bioreclamation agents. In recent years, black carp have been introduced into the Beloyarsk Reservoir to combat mollusks.
