During the meeting, the heads of municipalities and council chairmen discussed various issues arising in their territories, including establishing forest boundaries on populated area lands, solid waste management, urban development issues, and the sanitary and epidemiological situation.
Kirill Ershov, head of the Ural branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), presented a report to the municipal heads, "On the interaction of the Ural branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography with local governments."
Meeting participants were introduced to the institute's key areas of activity that may be of interest to municipalities: preparing fishery characteristics of water bodies; developing biological foundations for sustainable fisheries management; Determining the consequences of negative impacts during the construction, reconstruction, and major repairs of capital construction projects. Particular attention is paid to the responsibility of enterprises to implement industrial environmental monitoring of the impact of their activities on aquatic biological resources and their habitats.
Much of the report is devoted to the development of a biological justification and recommendations for the release of aquatic biological resources into water bodies. It is noted that the Ural branch has already developed six receiving tanks in the Gornozavodsky District; however, this is insufficient, given the density of industrial enterprises damaging aquatic biological resources. One of the most common options for implementing compensatory measures is the artificial reproduction of aquatic biological resources through fish stocking.
