During the voyage, specialists conducted 102 oceanographic and 99 trawling stations. Using a bottom trawl, data on the biological condition of the Kamchatka crab and bottom-dwelling fish, as well as on the features of their spatial distribution, were collected according to an annual pattern in repeatable positions.
Scientists have studied the size and sexual composition of the crab, its sexual maturity, fertility, skin condition, diseases and parasitofauna. In parallel, hydrobiological and oceanographic studies, monitoring of bottom communities, and analysis of indicator species of vulnerable ecosystems were conducted. Special attention was paid to the assessment of pollution of the habitat and aquatic organisms — this information will be useful for biochemical and technological research.
The collected materials will help to assess the fishing stock, make forecasts of different time periods and prepare recommendations on the regulation of fishing.
